About Bomdila
Bomdila is a remote area with blessings of Himalayas in Arunachal Pradesh. And once was a part of the Tibetan kingdom in middle ages. Bomdila is known for its natural environment including its Buddhist monastery and apple orchids. It is set in the mighty Himalayas at an altitude of 2530 meters above sea level. It is one of the top tourist destinations in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sightseeing in Bomdila
Bomdila offers spectacular views of the spectacular Himalayan terrain with its snow covered mountains. The area around Bomdila has several trekking and hiking trails that attract adventure seekers. Bomdila has some Buddhist monasteries or gompas. Not only Buddhist monasteries, Hindu temples are also seen here in Bomdila. This offbeat paradise also provide chances to visit wildlife sanctuaries.
Sessa Orchid Sanctuary
Sessa Orchid Sanctuary has deep valleys, high hills as well as low altitude hills. This beautiful sanctuary contains over 200 species of orchids. One kind of bear, Red panda is found here. This sanctuary is s must watch place in Bomdila. Another sanctuary, named Eagle-nest, contains many kind of birds like- hornbill, Eagle, duck, colourful kingfishers. Royal Bengal tigers, elephants are also seen here.
Monasteries
In scenic spots like R.R hills, Bomdila view point, apple gardens are the main to see and for the religious and architecture loving people, there has several monasteries like Bomdila monastery, lower monastery, upper monastery etc.
When & How to Go
Summer time (April to October) is the pleasant time to visit this round shaped small town. Bus or car is only option to reach this place.
