About Rishop
Rishop is a small Lepcha village and hill station of Kalimpong district located on 8500ft above sea level. It is 32 km away from main town Kalimpong. But there is a 4 km trekking trail to Rishop for trekkers and it should be avoided in monsoon. It is a beautiful village, away from the crowded cities, where the sun, clouds, mountains and forests create an alluring atmosphere all year around. Jalep La Pass and Nathu La Pass are also partially visible on the horizon at a distance from the Rishop. The Rishop is a part of the Naura Valley, at the foot of Tiffindara.
Peaks To Watch Out
Tiffindara is the second highest peak in West Bengal, with an altitude of about 2360 meters. Tiffindara is the view point for watching the sunrise and sunset. But you have to trek 1.5km to reach and can take maximum 1 hr. This trail should also be avoided in monsoon.
Kanchanjangha is simply amazing to visitors. On a clear day, you can get the most memorable visual show of it in your life. Rishop is also known as a bird watching point.
Best Time To Visit
Summer a great time to visit Rishop, when temperatures are mild, rhododendrons and orchid forests get blossom. Sky remains clear and the views are vivid to look.
