About Ukhimath
Equipped with sublime nature and spiritual passion, Ukhimath is a small village and known as one of the popular Hindu fanes. It perches at the elevation of 1311m from sea level. Ukhimath is mainly home to the Rawals who are the chief priests of Kedarnath. In winter time Kedarnath and madmaheshwar is brought down here from Kedarnath temple and Madmaheshwar temple. In April they are restored to Kedarnath temple and Madmaheshwar temple again. According to Hindu mythology, it is said that Anirudh (grandson of Lord Krishna) and Usha (daughter of Banasur) were married here. And for this the reason, this place was named as Ushamath, and later was renamed as Ukhimath. This small city is situated at Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.
Sightseeing in Ukhimath
The sightseeing tour of Ukhimath takes you to several places where you can relish the magnificent views of Kedarnath, Nilkanta, Nanda Devi, Chowkhamba, the peaks of Mann Parvat. Just two and a half kilometres away from here, there has a beautiful lake is Sari village named Deoria Taal. But it has a trekking trail of 2 km from Sari village, and it is the base camp of the Deoria Taal. There are three more three highlighted spots for tourists. Kalimath, Mandakini River and Omkar ratneshwar temple.
