About Kalimpong
Kalimpong is a well-known hill station of West Bengal. It is the main city of the new district of West Bengal, Kalimpong. It was divided from Darjeeling and formed into a new one in February of 2021. Kalimpong is situated at a height of 4,100 feet from sea level. It is suitable for all tourists who want to witness Kanchanjangha and other snow peaks in the Himalayas, because due to sitting in lower altitude than Darjeeling and Gangtok, the weather is mild and pleasant for most of the year. Kalimpong was under the Bhutanese kingdom before the British rule started in India.
Sightseeing in Kalimpong
It is mainly famous for areal valley views, Buddhist monasteries, churches and Tibetan handicrafts. Roaming around the hills, you can see numerous beautiful flower gardens, fern gardens and nurseries. There are more than 450 species of orchids are seen in the Kalimpong district. Kalimpong can be called as the ‘flower bed of India’. Kalimpong is truly a hiker’s paradise. There are lovely forests and villages around Kalimpong, perfect for checking out. Durpindara is highest peak of Kalimpong and creates a beautiful view of the town Kalimpong. Jang Dog Palriffo Brang monastery, Morgan house, cactus nursery, Deolo hills etc are the local sightseeing spots.
Best Time To Visit
It is very nice place to visit all the year because of the beautiful climate of Kalimpong. This hill station is often covered with mist in the monsoon and winter. So, the good time to visit Kalimpong is March to November.
